Origins
Red Herring Catering was established in 2003 by
experienced chef, Lorna Shelton when she emigrated to New Zealand to
join other family members from Edinburgh, Scotland. The first Red
Herring kitchen was in the picturesque Ohariu Valley (where Lorna's
lovely grey Clydesdale now lives) but moved to bigger premises in
Newlands Mall in 2004. There is now a permanent staff of two chefs with
wait staff, bar staff and others retained as needed.
Experience
Lorna's experience in catering for large functions and
for small, executive dinners and lunches has grown over 20 years of
experience. She's catered for all kinds of people from movie stars and
opera singers to business directors and wedding
parties. Her experience spans two hemispheres --- Scotland --- Hong Kong
--- New Zealand --- and her menus reflect these cultural and culinary
influences.
Location
Our commercial kitchen in Newlands Mall is large and
easily accessible from the motorway for prompt deliveries to Wellington
CBD and suburbs. Our staff are trained in all aspects of hygiene and
food preparation, and our kitchen has the Wellington City Council
'Excellence' standard for food hygiene.
Deliveries
You'll see our bright red, red herring-branded
vans all over Wellington and especially in the CBD. Give us a beep when
you see us!
